While hiring for a managerial position, will you hire - a person with very strong product knowledge OR a person with people management experience?

Both.

Lacking one will be a weak piece in the chain.

I don't need product knowledge expertise who can't manage people and vise versa as I don't need good people manager who doesn't know anything about product.
