What is the difference between a chief accounting officer and chief financial officer?

The difference exactly lies in the terms itself. Accounting is associated with past - Reporting what happened with organizations spending of money, where as, Finance is associated with future - What shall we do with available money and how shall we support enhancing business.

This can be associated to CAO or CFO.
