The standard AutoCAD drawing file extension. This has been consistently used for decades, but the extension does not denote the version the file was created in.

DXF

The Drawing Exchange Format is used to export files for use in other software programs.

DWT

Used for AutoCAD Template files.

DWF

The Drawing Web Format is used for sharing files either online or through a DWF viewer.

You can open/save in the following formats: .dwg, .dxf, .dwt.

Alternatively, you can save an Auto-CAD file in .dwf format but you cannot open .dwf in auto-CAD.
