What is the difference between LAN and wan?

Lan is a group of devices connected within the same limited area "office - home - small enterprise" Wan is more than group connected together differrently through the whole country or between countries . 

A (LAN) is a private network that connects computers in small physical areas. A (WAN) is type of network to connect offices which are located in different geographical locations.

LAN is local arer network. It is basically private network, which is limited to small office single building. But WAN is wide area network which is combination of thousands of LAN. It is spread over town to town and country to country.

LAN:For local area network like home  network

WAN: Wide area network  in which more can consist in simple we can say worldwide networking.

LAN - Local Area Network, which is a network with all devices and services internally only in one building.

WAN - Wide Area Network, which is global network you can send and receive all services with anyone. 

WLAN. The term WAN could be confused with WLAN, or wireless local area network. A WLAN is a type of LAN that uses wireless technology (nearly always Wi-Fi) to connect some or all computers and devices to the router, and in turn to one another and the Internet.

WAN IS WIDE AREA NETWORK CONNECT ONE OFFICE TO ANOTHER OFFICE OR NETWORK THROUGH INTRANET (INTERNET) USING VPN OR LEASE LINE

LAN is a network that covers a limited geographical area. e.g. a school network while WAN is a network that covers a larger geographical area e.g. internet.

A local area network (LAN) is a computer network that connects computers and devices in a limited geographical area such as home, school, computer laboratory or office building.

A wide area network (WAN) is a telecommunication network that covers a broad area (i.e., any network that links across metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries)

LAN is network in one place but WAN network mybe all over  the world
