It graphically illustrates the hierarchical relationship between the causes according to their level of importance or detail and a given outcome. Also called: Ishikawa Diagram.

Fishbone diagrams (Cause –Effect Diagram) use for finding actual cause of the problem. It drives to the root of the problem ad help PM to bring back project on track.- rules can be derive from Fishbone diagram which management or PM used for help managers identify problems and determine which operating factors cause more issues in the project and handle these accordingly.

background on the Cause & Effect, or Fish-bone Diagram it were first discovered by Dr. Kaoru Ishikawa at the University of Tokyo in    however it frequently referenced as a "Ishikawa Diagram. 

Today we used fish borne diagrams in systematic problems approach within any system. which  it's depend in what direction you need to diver, and what magnetic you are riding it.  myself I used for troubleshooting, measurement, signal , programs analysis, accounting systems  and product of data etc  for more info check   Dr. Kaoru

Fish bone(ishikawa) diagram gives the cause and effect diagram. The reason it is called as fish bone is the primary cause is mentioned using a horizontal line , while the secondary cause is mentioned with and slightly bent shape line that takes the shape of a fish-bone.
