Why we use Sieve analysis and hydrometer analysis in the Mechanical analysis of soils?

Both methods are used to separate soil particles depending on the size

these methods used to find out the particle size distribution of soils,

1. sieve analysis is used particle size larger than0. mm diameter 

and2. hydrometer analysis used particle size smaller than0. mm diameter
