In project management how does one deal with seduction?

Sometimes one gets seduced by nice words, suprises or gifts, from stakeholders, what's the response to that? And perhaps the answer relies on the question, what will the project itself will gain?

Seduction is an issue very common in project management sector and some times it come frankly in a form of a bribe, in any case the the professional project manager should always follow the ethical track to manage such situations and must be be stout in character and conduct whatever the degree or the value of seduction or the bribe.
The legal seduction ,is that comes as an award or recognition for a good job done for the sake of the project success and the promotion of creativity and innovation, in this case one should do hard hard to win the value of the seduction.

Seduction represents your desires, in ordinary life, you are either moved by your desires and sometimes suffer consequences, or control your desires in a way to minimise or prevent risks.
In professional world, we always try to reduce risks, as we seek stability.
It would be questionable if a colleague comes and gets you a gift or praises you in personal characteristics, you will need to ask yourself, are the actions being directed to me only, or is it a common thing.
As this is supposed to be reciprocated, you will need to know what is it that you need to do in return, would that be ethical? Was the gift too expensive? Is there any professional benefit this person can have from you (will there be anticipated gains)? Or is this simply an expression of gratitude? The question of how to deal with this is really dependent on the person, the issue is that there is no clear boundary, but you need to acquire the acumen to promptly process the questions above, and accept or reject that act/gift (even though companies try to create CoC documents, they are very limited to money or gifts).

I agree with almost all answers.
But I would like to approach this question from moral and ethical point of view.
Because if I accept any gift or support from outside of my company or from stakeholders that means I accept their drive.
I will be the person who is agreed to receive instructions in return of the accepted sduction.
The seduction is never happening for nothing.
Those who are making it wants soemthing in return.
I will loose the chance to be the responsible decision maker.
I will be only responsible.
But I will loose the chance to influence my decisions.
So I always refuse these situations very politely and clarify for the person that approach me with seduction that I am a honest and responsible person who want to look at the mirror every morning without remorse and see the same person appeared yesterday.

I agree with both answers and the coomon points are: 1.
Be honest and reject all kinds of bribe from outsiders and support your organization.
2.
When your organbization awards you for for your dedication, accept it and promise a better performance next time.

If it is a nice word , this will give more encouragement for more success or achieve project target .
If it is surprise or gift it depends on the value and from whom , generally if it is valuable (i.e.
many zeros in front of number ) from a person has no connection with your job , then you have to expect the worst i.e.
you will pay back by way or another - But if it comes from an charge manger responsible about your job , then this will be nice & encourage you for more success

SEduction is the part of degradation, which is happening (happebed) to society as a whole.For organisation to be successfull & sutainable the cultural base of the organisation has to rest on strong ethical base. The essential elements of this culture are all the desirable qualities ( say Transparency, respect to each other etc).

If the organisation wants its employees to be behaved ethically, the organisational behaviour itself has to be ethical.Further, organusaytion , should be able to develop ownership feeling in its workforce.

In short, iF the organisation can develop an ethical atmosphere alongwith a zero tolerance attittude towards "Non ethical practices" can bring this result.

unethical practices destroy the preofessionalism of your project delivery.
resist and bury any such moves by any stakeholders who is attempting to dilute your professionalism, by the freebies of any form.
