CV reflects past experiences, education and skills developed, but it does not necessarily reflect the potential, talent and work ethics

Your resume is the first look a potential employer gets of you.
In the interview phase - some ask you to do a presentation or some form of test to measure your skills around what you have put on your resume.
Reference contacts in your CV will give a potential employer some idea of who you are and what your talents are.

Not at all. An interview will give the potential employer a much better picture of the candidate.

no, a resume talks about general competencies , experience & qualifications but a resume would never provide with the behavioral and psychometric abilities of a person.

Resume is not the BEST way to judge a person's capability, however it definitely is the very FIRST communication source b/w candidate and employer. And first impression is the last impression, they say. So it goes back to candidate's shoulder how he makes this last impression as lasting.

So we cannot categorically deny the importance of a resume at all. It does tell quite a bit about the candidate, but should not be the only way to judge the candidate's skillset.

Hiring someone because they have an impressive resume is like buying a car because you love the brochure.

You need to avoid lemons when you’re hiring too. That means treating the resume like an advertisement – good for basic information but not the whole story.

A candidate’s education, skills and experience will be the first things to catch your eye. And, of course, it does matter who the person has worked for, which technologies he/she knows, and how many people they have managed.

But what you’re really looking for in a great hire are the qualities you can’t list on a resume – I call these brains and heart. They’re at the root of a person’s ability to confront unexpected challenges, to demonstrate wisdom and judgment, and to develop into an invaluable part of your team.

Best way or not, this is the only way we are judged for a vacancy. Especially for people looking for an opportunity abroad.

Resume is 'THE first impression" of the candidate. It certainly have a value in the selection process.

But, we cannot argue the need of a Face to Face interaction to make final decision.

There have been many instances where candidates put false information, just to get attention and to get shorlisted..

A person's ability can be evaluated by the interview, and the person's character, personality and skills which they have and they describe which could help the company.

Being willing to learn, to train and to be adaptable are also qualities a person needs to have.

A good work ethic and history of punctuality, little sickness record and genuinely wanting the job will also provide a good impression.
