The phenomena of bullying has been available since long long time. We cannot erase the term bullying from schools. It is impossible. This is not only limited to certain schools instead to all schools. Students are divided into categories:
The bully.
The geek.
The weirdo.
The weasel.
The weak.
You can search any school and find these students. The best that can be done is getting the kids away at the first level from this bully. In case things are not working, simply contact the administration about it.
Moreover, according to my experience bullying comes usually from rich students and not from poor ones. The poor students have no time to waste and need to finish school while rich students can simply go to another school or village or even country or continent.
Working with youngsters diagnosed with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder), we deal with bullying and the effects of bullying on a daily basis, our college has a "Zero tolerance policy" when it comes to this unacceptable form of behaviour. There is a confidential helpline within the college for those students who feel that they are being bullied but are frightened to go public. The staff are trained to recognise tell tale signs which would make them suspect that someone is being bullied or is being a bully and they can then follow what is known as the "concern for welfare" procedure which will ultimately highlight what is happening and bring it directly to the attention of the Principal and the Senior Management Team. We are also finding that with the advancement of technology so there has been a massive increase in "Cyber" bullying through phone texting and social media channels, especially prevalent amongst those youngsters who find it difficult to express their feelings "face to face" and find it easier with the semi anonymity of a phone or computer screen.
