They are the same roles of a project manager in non-IT companies.

However, it will be beneficial for the PM in any industry to have good knowledge of that industry and its specifics to be able to understand, comprehend and evaluate the different things related to projects in that industry.

IT is no exception, I have been doing IT projects for a long-time and I come from an ICT background, and I am also the owner/founder of "Advanced Projest Management Topics" (APMT) group in Linkedin with3500+ members on board !!
