A coach looks for opportunities for team members to expand their capabilities and improve performance. How?

The way I know it, a coach, career advisor/councelor  would help the employees designated to them by proper selection of  skills, training, assignments, responsibility taking, proper attitude/discipline showing, .. etc ... in line with what the employee wants to achieve, where he/she is heading, and what would be in best interest of the employee and the company as well !
