Who is capable of protecting the business in a company the general manager or the owner?

Both the owner and the general manager can be capable enough to protect the business.But its not always about the capability to do so, its the responsiblity. 

The leader, no matter of what level when employed in a company or a business is responsible of protecting the interests of the business.
