Can alcohol abuse be treated in 10 days effectively?

In my experience a detoxification programme can be completed in days but this is just one stage of recovery from alcohol addiction. Prior to detoxification the person must reach a mind set and desire to want to change their addiction, this is usually brought on by dire circumstances and crisis point.  Behavioural intervention, counselling and alternative lifestyle choices, physical and mental health wellness must be learnt or relearnt to provide a success abstination from alcohol. 

The physical addiction and the bodies demands will be reduced if not completely finished in this short programme but the long term effects and psychological dependence may take a lifetime of learning to remain abstinent.
