How much time do you spend planning and researching before starting a new web design project?

Well at-least one day or few hours depends how much time your manager is ready to give you , technically if you are saving time at start then you will probably spend more time during work but reallity is when you get new assignment your seniors are not willing to give you enough time for understanding work.
