English as a global language is expanding very fastly with the frequent use of words from other languages. At the same time electronic media is introducing slangs which are being created as a common phenomenon in a language. Use of slangs in teaching and learning is not recommended by Academics. Sometimes these slangs make confusion in the teaching process. Most oftenly indecent vocabulary  is used in the teaching material which create problems.

Spelling difference and pronunciation is also there to confuse the teachers and students.

I think that overcoming the effects that social media and text messaging is having on students is the greatest difficulty. Students don't seem to be at all concerned or embarassed by their spelling, grammar and punctuation skills (or lack thereof). These skills seem to only be on a downward spiral, as teachers around the world are paying less and less attention to detail.

It's a question of the times we live in. Being a native english speaker of "mature" years I was taught a language which barely resembles a lot of the english I hear spoken today. Social media, television, music have all contributed to the "morphing" of the english language into the "street" slang of modern day youth. Visitors to the UK expecting to hear "BBC" english will be very disappointed!
