Should a business leader get in to supervision or leave it to the manager?

My answer is of course. Business leaders maintain the goals of a company and managers control the teams and functions that allow the business to reach those goals. Even if the leader does not “supervise” the manager per se he/she must definitely play a role in guiding and supporting the various managers to reach those goals.

There are also two ways to read your answer.

Managers should manage and supervise their own structures. In my opinion business leaders should make occasional appearances lower down in the organizational chart.

Supervisors report to managers not to leaders.

Supervision is giving employees specific instructions on what is to be done, monitoring their efforts and holding them accountable for specific results

The Business leader ( CXO) has to be a  long term goal setter  and driver of company vision. He should  give directions to achieve the goals   to his team members and  is not  supposes to interfere on  their day to day activities. He should review the team on regular intervals and ensure that they move on the  right direction within the allocated  timeframe.
