Quit is like put,cut, hit..........they form their own clique,unique in its own way.

As the others have stated, quit on it's own has no past tense. It's "sense" is derived from the verbs it is used in conjunction with. eg. Past - "he has quit". Present - "he is quitting". Future - "he will quit".
