There is a basic rule in sales is "Always sell yourself first before selling your product".

So the personal selling have an advantage of getting breakthrough in selling but for the long lasting business a person should be smart enough to understand the need of the customer and should cater accordingly.

 

There are alternatve ways to sell the product, again it is for the short term sales and saving some bucks nothing more than that, because other ways customer do believe for some time after that he would look forward the representation of the company's person.
