Does anyone use Big Data solutions for their research purposes? In which areas?

The research on Big Data is concentrated in the areas such as medical, health and brain research and also in the areas such as computer science, engineering and mathematics.

Other areas of research where Big Data is of central importance are astronomy, oceanography, and engineering among many others.
