What are the fields of experience a chairman should have?

Concisely should now the Business Management.

As the post of a Chairman is of a leader, it is advisable or wiser to have a well rounded knowledge about every aspects of business or have an Assistant to support him in this matter.  Without this, it would be very difficult to manage the overall aspect of business. 

Depending on the type of business (trading, retail, aerospace, defence, shipping, automobiles etc....), it is better to have an indepth knowledge of the industry, in order to ensure success in the long run.

I see that a Chairman should be a leader ans an effective investor.
