How can we do innovation & creativity in procurement?

innovation and creativity  are needed everywhere not only in procurement.

in procurement you must innovate processes to advance SRM,MM and to really creatively find new sources,and advance out abilities in procuring the best products and services to make the procurement department an added value,and not an added weight. as it is called in many companies.

also warehousing and inventory management has many areas of improvement possible,using KAIZEN AND TQM will add value for sure.also JIT will substantialy add value.

I am totally agree with Mr. Amer that innovation and creativity is required in every field. I would like to say something that the main purpose of procurement is to deliver the exact materials before the stipulated time.

If you are new incumbent see the available system 

Compare with   your previous experience

Study the weakness and how to address it

Use your experience to enhance the level

Act as problem solver in challenging positions

Use ample time to learn what is new and applied it

Share ideas with others to acquire new means  

Always take time to reconsider your SBD , Contract    

thanks amer, all suggested by you is the routine which we do on daily basis. how do we raise above our routine job so that an a buyer get noticed & in turn gets job satisfaction. I am working in procurement for last18 years & now it is getting too monotonous..............
