In online banking, why can’t I see or edit my payee’s address or phone number?

Due to confidentiality issues of payee

you can modify all your details...phone number, adress...

because of the restrictions put for security

Due to the reason that payee had a restricted security for the purpose of confidentiality in privacy policies

Due to the Confidentiality of payee's account information, and this infomation is personal and banking system is based on the trust, so if the access of mainipulation in payee's address or phone number is given then, it will create a lot of problems in banking system specially in Moneylaundering or misellenous transections through  online banking channels. 

it is considered confidential data, also to prevent fraud.

Online banking offers security both to the payor and the payee. The payor does not have any right to access the payee's account details as part of the security nad confidentiality measures.

Some banking partners' channels don't provide payee account details or mask it due to Privacy poilicy agreements.
