Email marketing is manual one to one marketing and all information and revert are gathered and collected in an individual platform for future reference. but recent software and ERP systems has lot of advance features to make marketing automation which allows to start a campaign and analyse all results and responses on timely manner to understand real time figures

The difference between Email  marketing and Marketing Automation is that email marketing is a one-way (single channel) communications platform whereas Marketing  Automation is a multichannel, omnidirectional communication system. 

Email marketing will allow you to send messages to a specific set of email addresses. In Marketing Automation, it will deliver  marketing information via email, social media, SMS, and other channels.

There is a huge difference between the two terms, marketing automation depends on programming, AI and visitor behavior on your website to interact and guide him to turn him into a prospect, On the other side email marketing is a tool that focuses baiscally on publicizing new products, product launch and spreading information.

The main point of differnce in my point of view that in email automation you design a certain scenarios that will communcate with your website visitor upon his browsing journy and in email marketing you seek to grap his attention and keeping him up with your information and news.
