How would you deal with a user who isn't complying with your community guidelines?

I can send the person a polite message reminding him of the existing community guidelines in a private message. If the concerned person continues to violate the same guidelines, a general yet strong reminder can be sent to all community members.  If the same person continue to ignore the reminder, then a sanction can be given to the said member.
