Chief Supply Chain Officers are still a fairly new phenomenon.?

Compared to more established C-level roles such as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer, the idea of a board-level executive in charge of all source, make and deliver functions remains novel.

The logic of a centralized strategy to manage cost-of-goods-sold, quality and customer service may seem obvious to those schooled in supply chain thinking, but reality suggests the rest of the executive team does not always see it that way.

Are we losing our seat at the table?

Do you agree ?

Thanks foor the invite Ranjan.

Yes i do. However we are not losing the seat at the high table, rather we are moving closer to getting one as the importance of this role in the organisation is dawning   and i am sure this branch of operations would get its due.

It is a matter of time ,  before the board thinking patterns  change and make it mandatory to have one supply chain professional at the elite group to reap sizble benefits for the organisation.

I tend to disagree. Organizations have realized the contribution of supply chain efficiency and are more accepting to the idea of involving supply chain in critical business decisions.

Chief Supply Chain Managers are being welcome to join board meetings alongside other executives like Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Not at all . The seat must be taken by enlighting the owners of how important is the supply chain and its leading person to their proft and growth .  Western business mostly aware of how critical is the supply chain . So it's better to be picky of your recruiters and ensure they realized the impact of you among the busniess.

I agree Most of mid companies doesnot knoe the concept of supply chain or how it works; they still view it as a purchasing department. But supply chain management as the labit law in the past; will take time to let people know it, but after that will be a must because the executive team will feel it

Thanks for invitation,

Completely agree, the reason from my point of view is that "Supply Chain Management", is still a new career (for somehow) in many societies and countries as well.
