There is nothing wrong with public WiFis if used correctly. Public Wi-Fis are extremely useful, but security is the main issue. It is very easy to hack into your system while you are connected to public WiFi. But if you use it wisely by turning off file sharing features and utilize a VPN service, it is safe. Also, check for https while browsing to stay on the safer side.
