How is real estate photography different from other types of photography?

The different is they may seem different on their label but what they are doing is still photography. To question you asked, I can say yes or no

1- yes because you are capturing houses, apartments, and buildings which need the different angles to impress and to sell your pictures in a good and avoidable price.

2- No because you are doing is still the same concept on how you capture a birthday celebrant who is blowing a candle light, a baby having his first birthday ceremony. 

So estate photography is building while others are for events.

Actually you can differentiate photography on where your going to shoot. But it is only a label on what your doing as a photographer for example: wedding photographer and product photographer. They may seem different on their label but what their doing is still photography. Going back to your question.
