The basic premise of earned value management (EVM) is that the value of a piece of work is equal to the amount of funds budgeted to complete it!

However, due to the complexity of some projects calculating EVM can be time consuming most of the time. There are lots of SaaS products available online that helps calculate it as part of tracking your project so i would highly recommend those.. Google is your friend!
