NGN:The word NGN stand for Next Generation Networks are being implemented globally as a means to radically change the cost base, agility and service capabilities of telecoms providers.
Difference betwwn the Traditional and NGN are: NGN TDM 1.It is IP based 1.
It is TDM based 2.Designed for bursty Data Transmission 2.Poorly matched for bursty Data Tranmission.
3.Cost effective 3.expansion costs 4.Dynamic policy based traffic routing 4.pre-determined routing of calls based on dailed .
numbers.
5.Multiple Services,one platform (IP) Approach.
5.Different Services, Different platforms.

1.
NGN is easy for network planning and future expansion because the IP Network based is the concept of bandwidth sharing with the voice compression G.729a compare the traditional network is more dedicated channel for 64kbps.
2.
NGN can carry any video and data over the networks.
It can be prioritized or non prioritized.
3.
NGN can be integrated with other network such as VoIP, 3G and 4G.
The interconnect between network just using the TCP/IP.
4.
NGN can use the Internet data connection for any connectivity because it's running TCP/IP 5.
NGN more user friendly for monitoring and it can be monitored centralized from any where.

two importants points to add:
1- NGN processing Data over4 layers then transmiting, however TCP/IP use6 layers and IOS user7 layers.
2- implementing MPLS

A Next Generation Network (NGN) is a packet-based network able to provide services including Telecommunication Services and able to make use of multiple broadband, QoS-enabled transport technologies and in which service-related functions are independent from underlying transport-related technologies.
It offers unrestricted access by users to different service providers.
It supports generalized mobility which will allow consistent and ubiquitous provision of services to users
