In the last 10 years, how did Graphic Design affect the world?

Speaking about entertainment, I think graphics has contributes major effect on movie industry. This has not only change the quality of graphics added to movies, but also by reducing the cost of production. Nowadays, movie makers don't necessarily need to hire many sub-actors or destroy actual assets to produce a single scene, designers will do the job.
