Is it fair for your management to request quotations from several suppliers even if you reassure them YOUR suggested supplier is the best?

Yes Its fair to get quotations and It's procurement standard to get minimum three quotations and make comparison but the comparison should be for the same brand , same or equivalent quality 

Absolutely fair that the management obtains comparative quotes from suppliers for benchmarking and establishing accurate price ranges. It would obviously depend on the right scoping, Partner categorization, TCO of the same set of requirements.

At times, Managements use this practice as a strategy for dissuading cartelization besides keeping both the supplier base and the procurement team on toes. However, eventually in the long run it would be a reflection on the ability, mutual confidence of the procurement team in bringing value in each transaction. 

Yes it is; usually2-3 quotes are standard .. make sure you have it for the same item/brand in order to be able to make an "apple to apple" comparison. 

The vendor with the best quality, shortest lead time and good pricing is my choice.

However bear in mind that one vendor may can not be able at times to fill an order, then you need more than one source, therefore keep other vendors in mind and order from them off and on.

Absolutely Yes it is Fair for the management,  as a purchasing you should be provide all of your suppliers to send update quotation such as monthly quotation, weekly quotation,. for finance references, management also known that the purchasing get the supplies, goods, to competitive price and best quality as well.

Yes. It's absolutely needed in order to keep high level compliance inside the company and control expenses.

Certainly its logical to ask for the quotations from different vendors although you have your finalized vendors with whom you have agreement ,reason being asking more quotes may gives you idea about what happening in the market with regards to price for the diff. commodities you are consuming by keeping the diff quality, delivery, technical, innovative  parameters same ,it should be an apple to apple comparison. It may act as a back up option with lower price and faster delivery time.

Yes, and you should always ask for quotations from many suppliers, even if your current supplier is the best in quality and price.. at least to keep open communications channels with others at the same time to be updated on the market trends, and finally to see where you stand.

yes sure as need to know prices of other suppliers and sure to be undependable getting material from many sources to save your flow of material

Yes, it is absolutely fair. This will provide a transparency in fair dealing. Moreover, it is always good to have at least 3 quotations for comparison including your suggested supplier. You may open the price and other required terms in order to get a competitive fight among them to get better terms.
