I would like to put as follows:

  • Creation of common understanding of core business and how each employee is related to the final output. This could be created through all staff meeting (office based or plant based).
  • When a project is launched, take opinion of all department heads and relevant core staff.
  • Conduct weekly meeting with all department /unit heads to update their position/progress and let them express what support they expect. This will create a overall good relationship among all.

The best formal way to create bond and understanding between different departments of a company is by creating service agreements which are understood by both ends of the interactive departments, and the service level maintenance is controlled by appointed supervisor by both ends.

What I am reading here is good ...typical text book .... but the best way is to show that you can do what you say... than assist other departments ... at times you have to take invitations to walk through a department and show that supervisor what he/she is looking for ....

at times you endure nasty emails answer them in a professional manner to make out of an enemy a friend.

One hand washes the other ... do favors (professionally only) and when you need something done most will repay your kindness..

I have seen a company divided one department fighting against an other and 2 years later you see how these departments working together ... a change in management, attitude of all employees and the willingness to change for the better made this company a better place in business

Assign common goals to different teams. For example, a concept called SMarketing is an integrated approach towards marketing and sales teams, assigning them common goals and rewards to help them see the goal of the company and not their teams.
