What is the best way to move into IT auditing role?

IT Audit is now a vast area and IT Audit can be of various types too. However it depends on the interest and your professional skills. If you have a good IT background (Experience and Education), then it is easy to move to IT Auditing role ideally starting a career with a Big-4 firm and the audit methodologies are rich. But for the IT professionals to move to IT Audit side, I would recommend not to limit your exposure to IT Audit only and explore areas of IT risk assessment, Information security, cyber security with standards like ISO27001, COBIT, NIST etc.

For people with background f pure accounting, IT Audit is useful for them as a support to Financial Audit. Here, the scope of IT Audits are somehow limited.
