Science has no end. Who imagined in the past that we could fly someday?! Pyramids of Egypt were the highest man-made building in the world and history until couple of centuries ago due to undeveloped building technologies till that time.

The answer to this question depends on science development in the future about products and systems and techniques to resists vertical and lateral loads on skyscrapers, hence we will be in the position to build more than 4KM towers.
