Magnetic particle Inspection (MPI) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) process for detecting surface and slightly subsurface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials such asiron, nickel, cobalt, and some of their alloys. The Yoke types used to do a testing are AC or DC on carbon steel by perpendicular direction.

Magnetic particle Inspection (MPI) is a NDT process for detecting surface and slightly subsurface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. It is quick & inexpensive compared to other NDT method but relatively uncomplicated as well as limited to ferromagnetic materials & can’t be used on austenitic stainless steel
