The magnetic field can be removed by degaussing. This technique requires that the part is placed in an ac field that is slowly reduced to zero

One way to demagnetized is by pulling a component out and away from a coil with AC passing through it.

A common problem in the Piping Industry which sees the arc blow problems arise due to the magnetization of pipes. The best way to avoid the arc blow is to ensure all procedures are followed to disallow the magnetization of pipes in the first place.

For demagnetization of pipes, one method is by degaussing using AC fields which are gradually decreased to zero. This has a lot of problems since the process can be excessively time consuming depending on the line size and penetration factors.

However in the scenario of urgency during Tie-Ins in a Shut-Down scenario, it is best advisable to induce physical stress by hammering the pipe followed by heating the pipe to curie point and allowing it to cool in zero field.
