In my perspective,
Identification- the images shown on the video footage can be identify as an object, human, plants or any thing
Recognition- the images shown on the video footage can be recognize the face, color, activity and size
Detection- the images shown on the video footage can only be detected as a moving object, once pixel changes. it triggers your device to record or alarm, even send notice to certain user.
Detection: We sometimes detect or observe something moving in some distance.
Recognition: Sometimes we use this term when we want to recognize the object as a man or a woman.
Identification: In surveillance applications we usually mean identifying who a person is, or the license plate number, or maybe the numbers on the tail of a plane.
John Johnson, a scientist from the Army Night Vision Laboratory, was a pioneer in 1958, conducting experiments to test observers’ ability to identify targets through analog sensors. The terms “Detection”, “Recognition” and “Identification” were defined as follow:
Identification - show of proof
Recognition - Remembering something familiar
Detection - Noticing or discovering something
Identification- identifying an object using metaphor
Recognition - the event matches an already known pattern
Detection - you know there has been some event to trigger the alarm, you might guess as to what it is. But you have more data then something has occurred
Identification : It is to read the object (Authenticating the object as registered or un-registered)
Recognition : It is after reading the object ( confirming the authorization)
Detecting : Confirming the object.( making conclusion as this person)
Detection is a property to save more power, when an object come within the cctv range , Identification is resolution requirments or in other words what is the percentage occupied by the person on the cctv , recognition means are we able to see the person clearly
detection is about finding an object and/or movement for example (like motion detection), while identification is more about knowing this object (is it a man or a dog), then coming to recognition is to know this person (is that Bob or Alice for example)
