What is HS Code?

it is standard code to classify products under a variety of categories , so each product you see in electronic shops or in the supermarket has HS code.

it is requested by the customs of the destination

the main use of HS code if you planning to  import goods from abroad in commercial quantities  you need to get the HS code of your goods from the source(manufacturer) then check with the customs of the destination country to see the requirements to let your goods enter the destination country and avoid any delay or rejection or reexport it .

for example, some HS code required a certificate of quality,  others required test results for an electronic product to prove the compliance with the target market regulations.
