Why we need area 0 in OSPF network ?

Area0 is the backbone area in an OSPF process domain. All other areas are non backbone areas. Every area in OSPF domain which is other than Area0, must be connected with Area0 in order to share routing information with other non backbone areas.

So area0 works as a bridge between all non-backbone areas.
