In a Dyn11 why do we need to activate the zero sequence filtering when we do the differential protection settings?

In differential protection of delta star or star delta transformers, zero sequence filtering is required in star side to make differential relay stable underthrough fault condition. As if you do not activate zero sequence filtering the differential relay will start working out of it's specified zone of protection.
