What do you think is a better way to achieve target without chasing the number itself?

Depends upon the industry. There can be few points that drive target completion are:

Planning: Plan is the perfect way to know the target, numbers also, and prepare a plan to achieve it

Collect Tools Required: Onc should collect and understand all the necessary tools before chasing a target

Focus: Be focused! If chasing multiple targets, sometimes this can be be difficult to focus if no proper planning.

Recall Experience: Recall past experience regarding goal, I mean target, and find the best way
