Explain what is a sequential circuit?

A sequential circuit is a logic circuit wherein the output does not depend only on the current state of an input but rather on the sequence of previous inputs.

its output depends on present input signals and past sequence of input signals.

In simple words a circuit in which the input of next stage depends on output of previous stage in series manner.

You can think of circuits connected in series, resulting in the output of 1 stage depending on the previous one. 

A circuit whose output is dependent on timings of the inputs. In other words, it takes the present and past inputs into factor when generating the output.
