How we can select the pump type(horizontal or vertical) that is used in fire fighting systems?

The horizontal pumps are used for Fire Fighting Systems. The Fire fighting pumps require very high water pressure. In case of vertical pumps it is  prone to mechanical seal problems when pumping liquids with  accumulates at the top of the stuffing box or seal chamber where venting can be difficult or less effective.
