The Fire alarm system must monitor and/ or control all systems related to fire life safety and for fire fighting systems the fire alarm panel control the fire pump, monitoring zone valves including flow switches, tamper switches, monitoring the fire tanks.

these above are called interfaces and in case of any change in their status, an alarm could be occurred.

Interface between fire alarm system and fire fighting which means we can interface through monitor module which includes fire fighting devices(if provisions available) like flow switch, fire hose reel and fire pump/diesel pump status, Supervisory gate valve, zone control valves.

MCIM & MCOMS

The MCIM is a single input, soft addressed micro interface, incorporating integral short circuit isolators. It is extremely compact and therefore ideal for incorporation into other equipment.

The MCIM is fully compatible with the current range of  intelligent addressable fire control panels. It is suitable for monitoring a set of normally open, volt free contacts such as sprinkler system flow switches, auxiliary panel fire/fault signals as well as non fire input signals such as flow valve open contacts, generator start up, fire door closed etc.

The MCOM is a single output, soft addressed, micro interface, incorporating integral short circuit isolators. It is extremely compact and therefore ideal for incorporation into other equipment.

The MCOM is fully compatible with the current range of Cooper intelligent addressable control panels. It is suitable for switching low voltage (V dc at1A maximum), via a set of non latching relay contacts. It is suitable for switching HVAC control circuits, plant shutdown control circuits, fire door closure etc.

Many manufacturers of Fire Detection & Alarm systems also designing “Input/Output Interfacing Modules” for interfacing with system. These I/O modules normally have NO or NC contacts, that can be configured to operate in specific condition(s) (through Fire Detection & Alarm control panel). These contacts then can be used to operate the firefighting / lifesaving systems for example start of a Fire Water Pump (Output), Monitoring of a Fire Water Tank Level (Input), Triggering to paging system to announce a pre-defined message, Fire / Heat or Smoke Detection Signal from another Standalone System, etc.

1) FAS should have interface with Sprinklers (wet type) with the Tamper Switch (Supervisory) & Flow Switch (ALARM). Also in some zoning design is with Fire Hose Cabinet.

1.1) For Sprinklers (Dry type) example Deluged Valve, FAS will trigger the signal to release the water in the affected real fire zone.

2) FAS should have interface with FM for Supervisory, Trouble, & Alarm mode.

3) FAS should have interface with Diesel Pump

The following should be interfaced with Fire alarm system.

1.Diesel Engine (Engine Run,Power Failure,,Engine Trouble)

2.Electrical Engine (Engine Run,Power Failure,Phase Reversal)

3.Alarm Check Valve

4.Zone Control Valve

There're interfaces called input and output modules which use to communicate between them.
