It is a structural analysis and design software. It is multi task, it is good for structural steel design, reinforced concrete design. It can be used for meshed type of structural elements such as steel and concrete tanks, foundation analysis using elastic or plate mats. It is finite element based design. different international codes are available on it as a reference for your design such as ACI, AISC (ASD.OR LRFD) etc...

STAAD stands for structure analysis and design. It is a software package through which one is able to analyse and simultaneously design the structure. It has a vast scope in future as, due to rise in population and limited earth surface area, we need tall buildings which can accommodate more people. And to design those buildings we need to have a proper knowledge of designing of buildings. And here comes the role of the STAAD.

If you keep doing the design practice, then you may reach  to the senior civil engineer(design).
