The Coca Cola Beverages and Pepsi together occupy more ten75% of the carbonated soft drink market across the globe. Both of these companies have made great investments over the years, both offer solid growing dividend yields, and both excel in a particular niche. However, going forward, I think one of these companies has the edge on the other as an investment. On the other hand, Pepsi's snack division makes up about50% of the company's sales volume. Soda is just25% of the company's U.S. sales compared to60% of Coca Cola's. What this all means for investors is that Pepsi is better prepared to handle the unstoppable trend away from its flagship product than Coca-Cola. Hence, I conclude that the smart investments along with continuous R&D have been the reasons for these two brands to be among the top in the world.

I'm afraid your premise is incorrect. Both have large numbers of loyal customers, particularly in the USA.   If you're old enough, do you remember the outcry when Coke changed their recipe to "new coke"?   Coke were forced to backtrack by their loyal customers.

Pepsi and Coca Cola are the oldest soda companies however that isn't the reason. These companies spend a lot on their Marketing and Sales Stategies and channels. Also they keep renovating their looks and extend their advertising so they have more exposure. They do many sponsorship and offer rewards.
