Gas turbine work by utilizing the heat energy present flue gas resulted from the burning fuel heat can not do any thing it con move or push any thing while moving pressure   and difference you can say that you change kinetic energy in to mechanical energy

Gas turbines convert the energy from burning fuel via three main elements - a compressor, combustor and turbine.

As gas turbines operate in a continuous thermodynamic cycle, they have a higher power density than internal combustion engines.

A gas turbine can accelerate air to create thrust or drive generators to make electricity, or turn pumps and ship propellers.

A gas turbine, also called a combustion turbine, is a type of internal combustion engine. It has an upstream rotating compressor coupled to a downstream turbine, and a combustion chamber in-between.

The basic operation of the gas turbine is similar to that of the steam power plant except that air is used instead of water. Fresh atmospheric air flows through a compressor that brings it to higher pressure. Energy is then added by spraying fuel into the air and igniting it so the combustion generates a high-temperature flow. This high-temperature high-pressure gas enters a turbine, where it expands down to the exhaust pressure, producing a shaft work output in the process. The turbine shaft work is used to drive the compressor and other devices such as an electric generator that may be coupled to the shaft. The energy that is not used for shaft work comes out in the exhaust gases, so these have either a high temperature or a high velocity. The purpose of the gas turbine determines the design so that the most desirable energy form is maximized. Gas turbines are used to power aircraft, trains, ships, electrical generators, or even tanks.

A gas turbine is a combustion engine that can convert natural gas or other liquid fuels to mechanical energy. This energy then drives a generator that produces electrical energy .To generate electricity, the gas turbine heats a mixture of air and fuel at very high temperatures, causing the turbine blades to spin. The spinning turbine drives a generator that converts the energy into electricity.

The gas turbine can be used in combination with a steam turbine—in a combined-cycle power plant—to create power extremely efficiently.

  1. Air-fuel mixture ignites.
    • The gas turbine compresses air and mixes it with fuel that is then burned at extremely high temperatures, creating a hot gas.
  2. Hot gas spins turbine blades.
    • The hot air-and-fuel mixture moves through blades in the turbine, causing them to spin quickly.
  3. Spinning blades turn the drive shaft.
    • The fast-spinning turbine blades rotate the turbine drive shaft.
  4.  Turbine rotation powers the generator.
    • The spinning turbine is connected to the rod in a generator that turns a large magnet surrounded by coils of copper wire.
  5. Generator magnet causes electrons to move and creates electricity.
    • The fast-revolving generator magnet creates a powerful magnetic field that lines up the electrons around the copper coils and causes them to move.
    • The movement of these electrons through a wire is electricity.

Gas turbine is mainly used to generate two most useful power that man is in need of, namely electrical and mechanical. Aircraft engines use the power of turbine to generate electricity, compressed air for air conditioning and pressurization and for forward thrust that could reach over100,000 pounds per each engine. The generated thrust is used to obtain the necessary lift and to maintain the aircraft under control due the principle of aerodynamics.

The gas turbine is the engine at the heart of the power plant that produces electric current.

A gas turbine is a combustion engine that can convert natural gas or other liquid fuels to mechanical energy. This energy then drives a generator that produces electrical energy. It is electrical energy that moves along power lines to homes and businesses. thank you
