Dats true !! Material planning should be based on bom, lead time to manufacture & inventory availability.

In addition MRP can also be considered as a prelude to Capacity Planning.

Yes this is a true statement, however you also need to count in the availability of man power and machinery ... a production planner got to keep all of this in mind in order to be a good planner...

You can have all of the material for an order for, which you have a lead time for a month in advance.

However if your production team has no work; now you may want to produce early to keep them from being laid off, and you know in a month time your main production time starts;

and you would have to hire additional personal or your crew has to work over time to get this order out of the door.

Yes you increase your cost of warehousing, however this still will be lower than your cost for the manpower.
