Do you think that getting the right story, presenting facts have waned due to restrictions on the media and society's need for entertainment?

I've noticed that hard core journalism in some cases have been doused by the need to entertain rather than presenting the facts. With freedom of press in some countries - we don't always get the right picture. Very few people still question.

Yes, though I believe this is more due to the fact that society is driven by more sensationalised entertainment-based news, rather than restrictions on the media.
As a whole, we, particularly Generations Y and Z, have decreased attention spans and less of a desire for 'heavy' news, as a result of the quickfire communications that are replacing traditional sources of news and communication.
Social media and a faster-paced life is the main cause of this shift; as information consumers we browse for snappier titles and nuggets of information that are easy to digest, rather than heavy topics that take time to read and understand.
Social media has also forced the need for news providers to scramble to be the first to publish; confirmation of facts take a back seat in the desperate rush to push out a new scoop.

Social media is bringing back real news to keep people informed. Print and high cost media can be burdened by advertisers who do not ascribe to freedom of the press as some articles may have impact on their business models or where they have large investments, which has led to record low sales for newspapers, magazines and TV subscriptions also. Trends suggest that we will continue to see social media make journalists out of the common person, telling it as it is, even if with poor lighting and smaller access to politicians. This will be highly valued particularly in places where the official media sources, cannot or will not do that job adequately.
