What role can procurement play in ensuring a company’s social or environmental policies are adhered to?

Procurement can play a vital role on environment and social policies.:- (few points I know)

1.To find out the possibility to reduce the usage by coordinating with internal users of the products.

2. Through improved products /services, we need to identify the opportunities to minimize the social/enviro impact.

3. Require regular feedback and monitoring to the supplier on eviro/social impacts.

sorry but i'm not expert in this field

Procurement  has a role to play in identifying internal processes that may contribute to suppliers’ non-compliance with ethical standards. Often the real causes behind violations do not lie solely with the supplier, but are rooted within the buying organisation. For example, unreasonably short production lead times and last-minute specification changes may lead to labour standards violations in an effort to meet demand.

By adopting a good policies and conducting business with the companies that are complying with the business ethics, environmental and social standards.
